See Your Impact From Giving
We can’t believe we are already halfway through the school year and the academic achievement of our children thus far is very encouraging. With over 33,000 hours spent in homework sessions, over 200 hours spent in enrichment activities, and over 7,500 hours spent on blended learning we are seeing great results. Here are a few of the achievements to date:
- Improvement across the board in Lexia
- Increase in overall GPA to 2.88
- 92% of students passed both Math and Reading
As we continue to break down the barriers to learning, offering wrap-around services, we continue to nurture the physical needs that our children have through eye and dental care, trauma counseling, nutritious meals and safe passages to and from our clubs. Here are a few of the accomplishments to date:
- 1,256 eye exams and 1,508 dental exams administered
- 130 kids provided with direct intervention counseling
- Over 97,000 nutritious meals served
- 187,148 safe passages to and from our clubs
In order to provide a truly holistic approach to learning, we continued to serve the spiritual and emotional needs of our children. Through over 10,999 hours in chapel and Bible study, spiritual mentoring and intentional discipleship, we are witnessing tremendous personal growth this year. Here are a few of the results:
- 1,057 completed the Evangelism Explosion course
- 633 Good News Welcome Kits were given with ERV Bibles included
- 394 new professions of faith
When M’Kyla Harris started with By The Hand in the first grade, she had never heard of God’s love for her. M’Kyla’s love for God began to grow when she was first exposed to chapel services, held every Thursday (which she now claims as her favorite day of the week). “At first, I didn’t know anything about God. But when I went to chapel and saw how excited everyone was to talk about God, it made me want to learn more.” During her first year with By The Hand, M’Kyla decided to give her life to Christ.
During chapel, she is constantly learning new things and being transformed by God’s Word. This eagerness carries over into her own church life, as she now loves to go to church services with her family – always the first to ask questions, and even answer them, too! Chapel has been an agent of transformation in M’Kyla’s life, and she beams with joy when talking about the abundant life she has experienced through it.
M’Kyla’s reading skills have also been improving each year that she has been with By The Hand, and with the help of her team leaders, she completed Lexia Reading Core5 at the end of last school year – a full year ahead in reading!
