By The Hand students treated to festive night of shopping, sightseeing in downtown Chicago
For the past 23 years, By The Hand Club’s ‘Christmas in the City’ has enabled youth from Chicago’s most under-resourced neighborhoods to experience an evening in the city during the holidays. CBS Chicago joined our kids from Englewood and Altgeld-Murray as they traveled downtown for a festive night of shopping, dining and sight-seeing. Our hearts were especially full as one of our students, Dailyn, a kindergartener from Englewood, chose to gift the toy she had just purchased to a young girl she met downtown who recently arrived with her mother from Venezuela. Dailyn’s selflessness perfectly illustrates Jesus’ love and the spirit of generosity we aim to cultivate among our students, especially this time of year.
