WHO: Gov. Bruce Rauner will visit By The Hand Club For Kids and Moving Everest Charter School

WHEN: Thursday, June 23, 2016, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

WHAT:  Gov. Rauner visited By The Hand Club For Kids and Moving Everest Charter School on Jan. 30, 2015, for the groundbreaking of the new $11 million, 53,000-sq.-ft. building. He said he would return when it was finished. Now, the first class of students has completed its first year at Moving Everest, and Gov. Rauner has returned. He toured the facility and met with students and staff.

The charter school leases space from By The Hand Club For Kids, which also conducts an after-school program at the site. Another By The Hand Club For Kids exists across the street at 415 N. Laramie Ave.,

By The Hand Club For Kids is an after-school program for nearly 1,200 children where they receive tutoring, counseling, spiritual guidance, warm meals, medical attention and safe transportation to and from the centers. The club emphasizes academic excellence and spiritual growth.  There are centers in Cabrini-Green, Altgeld-Gardens, and Englewood as well as two clubs in Austin.
