Ready to Volunteer?

Individual Opportunities

Engaged, consistent volunteers use their power to transform lives through deep and lasting relationships they form with our students. There are many ways for individual volunteers to partner with us, from our six after-school programming sites, to special initiatives and programs for our students.

We require all individual volunteers to complete a simple application process in order to volunteer with minors. Read our requirements below, and click on the link, if you’re ready to get started!

Step One

Complete Application
We have a virtual application process, which includes a simple, fillable form, a background check, three references, and completion of mandated reporter training.

Step Two

Complete An Interview
We want to find the right fit for you to serve. A member of our team will schedule an interview with you to find out your background, interests and expectations, and answer any additional questions you may have.

Step Three

Attend An Orientation
Volunteers must complete a virtual orientation, which we hold multiple times during the week. In orientation, new volunteers learn the big picture of By The Hand, identify their next steps and schedule their first volunteer experience.

Group Opportunities

Time is a valuable resource for our students. When a group of volunteers make themselves available to connect and serve with our community, they demonstrate how important our students are in their lives.

How might your team or organization make a powerful difference in the life of a student today? We have many opportunities for groups to participate in a meaningful and transformative way. We have a simple group volunteer process, which allows you and your team to volunteer within your capacity. Click on the link below to get started!
